Little history of Yumiko Maki and her leather handbag.

At a young age, Yumiko discovered her inspiration for design. She was surrounded by fashion in her town of Yokohama, Japan,but also found simpler influences in her home. Her grandfather, owner of a custom tuxedo business, was constantly creating new patterns for his clients, and watching the small details of his unique artworks was a big influence on Yumiko’s life. At the right time, she decided to pursue graphic design at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA. After the graduation, she followed a dream to New York, where she began hand designing and making each of her signature bags. In each she infuses a bit of her personality, of her function and style, something fresh, different and unique. She hopes that each of her dear customers and friends can share the same feeling of finding something new and special in the designs of her handbags. currently, Yumiko resides in Brooklyn with her cat Wasabi.
